About Us

Who we are

Countryside Bible Fellowship is a non-denominational, protestant country church in rural Clay County, Kansas. We are located on the Broughton Road 8 miles east of Clay Center (at the intersection of county road 396 and 859 --- 2189 Broughton Road, Clay Center, KS 67432), in the area of Bala, Green, Wakefield, Riley, Milford, and Manhattan, Kansas.

Our casual Sunday Service starts at 9:00 A.M. and consists of traditional and contemporary songs of worship, prayer, biblical teaching, and is followed after by an open discussion on the effect of current events on our Christian life.

We welcome you to join us!

Our History

The history of Countryside Bible Fellowship spans over 140 years and is the combining of three congregations. Sunday School was held at the Hillside Schoolhouse as far back as 1880. In 1946, the building became Hillside Evangelical United Brethren (EUB) Church. The Republican Mission Church organized in 1900 built Bethany EUB church in 1905. Because of the Milford Reservoir project, the village of Broughton had to be evacuated. The Broughton Methodist Church, organized in 1887 and built in 1918, was purchased by the Bethany-Hillside EUB Churches in 1965. That year the church building was moved by truck to its current location and became Countryside EUB Church. As a result of the Methodist and Evangelical United Brethren denominations uniting in 1968, the church was named Countryside Methodist Church. In 2021, Countryside Bible Fellowship separated from the United Methodist denomination.

our beliefs

We believe in one God, who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and that our acceptance of the sacrifice of Christ Jesus, our Savior, is the only way to have eternal life. We believe that by accepting Christ's love and grace, we  are called to a life that reflects Christian values in our character and actions. We believe that by following and studying the teaching of the Holy Bible, we have God's directions to establish and grow our personal faith and relationship with God through the Holy Spirit. Our mission is to humbly seek wisdom from God, to stand ready to share the love of Christ wherever we are given an opportunity, and to always stand boldly with truth in the face of evil.

Our Church by Mrs. Orville Hughes -1965

No where on earth is God's love told

More sincerely by pastors bold

Than in country churches tho' they be small

There friendly fellowship surpasses all.

No where is He so very near

As when a prayer goes winging clear

To Heaven as petitions do

When people pray from wooden pew.

When the minister is preaching

God stands in the pulpit reaching

Out His hands to bless His people

In a small white church beneath a steeple.
